Addameer and the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC) released a factshet and detailed analysis on force-feeding and its illegality under International Human Rights Law and medical ethics and standards on 17 November.
The paper provides historical background on hunger strikes across several contexts and the use of force-feeding, then proceeds to provide a political and legal analysis of the recent legislation by Israeli occupation which provides a “legal basis” for the force-feeding of Palestinian prisoners and detainees on hunger strike.
