On the eve of Ahed’s 17th birthday and beginning of her military court trial, join us to demand her release, to support the No Way to Treat A Child call in Canada.

We will gather in front of Minister Freeland’s office to celebrate the birthday of Ahed Tamini and to demand that the Canadian government put pressure on Israel to stop the imprisoning of Palestinian children.

Join us over the lunch hour in downtown Toronto, at Bloor and Spadina (just west of of Spadina on north side of Bloor)–look for a birthday party on the street!

Around the world groups join to demand for the release of Ahed and the torture and denial of rights of Palestine’s children.

Join as we honour Ahed’s bravery and her birthday, with balloons, a birthday card and a strong message to #FreeAhed.

In Toronto, we join with others in Canada and around the world for this INTERNATIONAL ACTION to demand for the release of Ahed; and for the end of torture and denial of rights of Palestine’s children by the Israeli military. To join in supporting the No Way to Treat a Child campaign.

Background:
Israel is the only county where military law is used systemically to detain and prosecute children. The No Way to Treat a Child-Canada campaign seeks to challenge and end Israel’s prolonged military occupation of Palestinians by organizing and supporting an extensive network of People demanding immediate protections for children held in Israel military detention where ill-treatment and torture is widespread, systemic and institutionalized.Israel military detention is #nowaytotreatachild.

Ahed Tamimi was arrested in the middle of the night on December 19, 2017. A few days before that, during a protest of Donald Trump’s declaration on Jerusalem, she stood up to soldiers trying to invade her home. For this Israel intends to make an example of her.
Having lived her entire life under occupation, and having spent the past month in military detention Ahed’s childhood has already been stolen from her. Now she is facing up to 10 years in prison.

On January 30 freedom will be demanded for Ahed and over 300 other children in Toronto at this event and other events to be announced including Regina at noon on Scarth Street mall. The rally to free Ahed is organized in Regina by the COMMITTEE TO FREE AHED TAMIMI AND ALL PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS.

Join as we honour Ahed’s bravery and her birthday, with balloons, a birthday card and a strong message to #FreeAhed and to say #nowaytotreatachild to our Canadian decision makers.

Stay turned for another event that will follow elsewhere in downtown Toronto following this noon time event.

This event will take place on the territory of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. The territory was the subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and Confederacy of the Ojibwe and allied nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.
