Saturday, 17 February
This Saturday 1pm join us in Manchester Piccadilly Gardens to stand with Ahed Tamimi and all Palestinian prisoners as she begins her trial in Israeli military court. It is also the weekend of action for Ahed as Sunday the 18th February is the Global Day of Action for the Free the Tamimis Campaign, of which we can all be a part: https://www.facebook.com/
The trial has just been adjourned to be held behind closed doors at a later date in order to stop the media reporting on her case:
Here is her lawyer Gaby Lasky talking about the outrageous decision to stop public scrutiny of the case:
Come and demonstrate, bring others, and help build the global stand against Israel’s appalling treatment of Palestinian children and grow the movement against Israel’s apartheid regime.
Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian girl who as a 16 year old was arrested for slapping a member of the Israeli army who was on her yard in December has just begun the trial in Israeli military court. An hour before she confronted the soldiers she had learned that her younger cousin had been shot in the face by the Israeli army and was in a coma. For that slap faces up to ten years in Israeli jails. Ahed’s bravery has helped the whole world stand up to see Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and the courage of Palestinian children facing it every day. It has also put a bigger light on Israel’s decades-long military occupation of Palestinian land and gradual ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Conviction rates in Israeli military courts for Palestinians are over 99%. Governments around the world, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and many campaigners for social justice such as Angela Davis have called for her release and the release of 350 more Palestinian children languishing in Israeli jails
Come and stand with Ahed and all Palestinian prisoners locked away from their communities and families for resisting Israel’s brutal and illegal military occupation.
