Call to Action: Call and email the US Department of State and demand they act to release Mr. Ubai Aboudi

A Palestinian US Citizen, a father, a husband, education activist, human rights worker and one of Scientists for Palestine’s closest partners unlawfully abducted by Israeli military without charge.

Our dear friend and close partner in Palestine, education activist Mr. Ubai Aboudi, remains in Israeli military detention. A Twitter storm, a Facebook storm, and call-in to the US Department of State (DOS) are set for Friday December 13 at 12 noon EST. Please be ready to tweet, call and post. On this day Ubai will have been detained for a full month without charges.

DRAFT TALKING POINTS

To call US DOS at # (202) 647-4000:

Hi my name is ____ and I am calling to demand that the Department of State act to secure the release of US Citizen, Palestinian, Ubai Aboudi from Israeli Military detention where he has languished for 30days. I am shocked that the Department of State would allow any US Citizen to be held by a foreign government without charge or trial or due process. Not only is the Israeli practice of administrative illegal under international law-and considered a war crime- it also compromises the safety of all US Citizens as they travel and reside abroad. It especially compromises the rights and protections of Palestinians as they return to or visit their homes and families. How can I feel safe traveling or residing anywhere outside the US, when I know that my own government would sit idly by if I were kidnapped by a foreign military through illegal means, such as “administrative detention” and without charge or trial.

I want to know what your office will be doing to protect Mr. Aboudi’s rights and what you will be doing to secure his release. I want to see Ubai Aboudi reunited with his family before Christmas and I will follow up to see what your office has done to further ensure his safety while in detention and what plans for his release are being made.
