Join the Palestinian Youth Movement on Sunday, May 31st at 7pm EST/4pm PST for the virtual launch of the 4th annual Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship: Knocking on the Doors of Jerusalem, titled after Laura Tibi’s submission, and featuring artwork by Leila Abdelrazaq.

We will feature live poetry and art from past anthology winners, of the likes of Geroge Abraham, Fargo Tbakhi, both of whom served on the judging panel for the 2019 anthology, and this past year’s first place winner Lina Abojaradeh. You can register to attend the event here.

The Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship aims to provide a space to re-engage the Palestinian narrative and explore the complexity of our identity in the Diaspora, and how our existence relates and connects to other marginalized communities in this country and beyond. No scholarships exist for Palestinian youth in North America, which is why we want to fill in this gap and provide support for our own community.

We want to reward and empower our youth who demonstrate excellent writing capabilities, creativity, a strong commitment to literature and arts, and engagement in their community. We invite you all in celebrating and supporting the 2019 Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Anthology and all past and future contributors. If you are unable to attend, you can support the scholarship by donating and receiving a print copy of our anthology here. All funds donated towards this event and the anthology go directly into the 2020 scholarship pot.
