Online Event: Colonization & Resistance: Al-Nakba, Israeli Apartheid & Palestine’s struggle for liberation
May 15 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Join the Boston branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation to observe Al Nakba Day on Saturday, May 15th from 5-6:30pm. The Nakba, or the Catastrophe, was a period of mass dispossession and expulsion of Palestinians from their land during the so-called Israeli War of Independence in 1948. Zionist militias forced over 700,000 Palestinians from their homes. The most recent wave of Zionist mob violence againstPalestinians during Ramadan, is just the most recent example of the racist violence that is baked into the Zionist Israeli state.
The presentations will cover the political and historical roots of Zionism including its early relationship to imperialist conquest, analyze the importance of the 1936 – 1939 Palestinian revolt against Zionist occupation, and provide context to the Nakba itself as the culmination of decades of colonial domination and expansion. The forum will conclude with an overview of the continued resistance of the Palestinian people for liberation and self-determination.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!
