Organized by SOAS Palestine Society

This International Womxn’s Day, we are excited to be hosting a discussion event with Dr. Nahla Abdo on Palestinian womxn’s resistance, and more specifically the experiences of Palestinian womxn political prisoners.

Dr. Nahla Abdo is a Palestinian Canadian feminist, political activist and Professor of Sociology at Carleton University. She has extensive publications on anti-colonial, anti-imperialist feminism, racism, nationalism and the Settler Colonial State. In her 2014 book “Captive Revolution: Palestinian Women’s Anti-Colonial Struggle”, she makes visible the stories of Palestinian women detainees within the Israeli prison system, and their political role within the resistance against the Occupation.

The importance of women in anti-colonial resistance in Palestine is seldom given attention, which is why we as student activists should ask what we can do within our own institutions to include their histories and ongoing experiences in our political work. So come show your solidarity with the womxn of Palestine by joining us for this incredible discussion! This is an event not to be missed!

This event is open to all. Registration link for this event is in our below!
