[EN] Ubai Aboudi, director of the Bisan Center for Research and Development, was arrested in his home in the middle of the night on 14 November 2019. His arrest was made in the presence of his wife and his three little boys, who were left without him.
After 11 months in Israeli prisons, Ubai is free again.
During these long months of imprisonment, Ubai went through a lot: the horror of the arrest, the injustice of the administrative detention, the violence associated with strategies such as dehumanization and oppression, anger at the torture of his comrades, powerlessness in the face of the accusations against him who persisted without any evidence, fear of covid-19. But Ubai also experienced comradeship among the prisoners, reading and sports as a means of learning, the establishment of an education system in prison as a means of resistance, the power of collective and international solidarity as an opportunity to overcome systems of economic, political, cultural and social oppression.
We are delighted to invite you to come and listen to Ubai via a simple webinar! From your seat you can listen to the webinar. It will be a pleasant discussion with several people who have met Ubai on several occasions and mobilised during the international campaign for his release.
Throughout the week we will collect all the questions you have and ask Ubai during the webinar. Will you be there as well?

[NL] Ubai Aboudi, directeur van het Bisan Center for Research and Development, werd op 14 november 2019 bij hem thuis, midden in de nacht gearresteerd. Zijn arrestatie gebeurde in het bijzijn van zijn vrouw en zijn drie kleine jongens, die zonder hem achter blijven.
Na 11 maanden in Israëlische gevangenissen is Ubai weer vrij.
Tijdens deze lange maanden van gevangenschap heeft Ubai veel meegemaakt: de gruwel van de arrestatie, het onrecht van de administratieve aanhouding, het geweld dat gepaard gaat met strategieën als ontmenselijking en onderdrukking, woede over de marteling van zijn kameraden, machteloosheid tegenover de beschuldigingen tegen hem die zonder enig bewijs stand hielden, angst voor covid-19.
Maar Ubai ervoer ook kameraadschap onder de gevangenen, lezen en sporten als een middel om te ontspannen, het opzetten van een onderwijssysteem in de gevangenis als middel van verzet, de kracht van de collectieve en internationale solidariteit als mogelijkheid om systemen van economische, politieke, culturele en sociale onderdrukking te overwinnen.

[FR] Le 14 novembre 2019, Ubai Aboudi, directeur du Bisan center for Research and Development, était arrêté chez lui, au milieu de la nuit. Devant sa femme et ses 3 petits garçons.
Après 11 mois passé dans les geôles israéliennes, Ubai est à nouveau libre.
Pendant ces longs mois d’emprisonnement, Ubai a vécu beaucoup de choses : l’horreur de l’arrestation, l’injustice de la détention administrative, la violence des stratégies de déshumanisation et d’oppression, la colère face aux tortures de ses camarades, l’impuissance face aux accusations sans aucune preuve dont il faisait l’objet, la peur du covid19. Ubai a aussi vécu la camaraderie entre prisonniers, les lectures engagées et le sport intensif comme moyen de s’évader, la mise en place d’un système d’éducation comme moyen de résistance, la force du collectif et de la solidarité internationale comme autant d’opportunités de vaincre les systèmes d’oppression économiques, politiques, culturels et sociaux.

Le webinar prendra la forme d’une table de discussion avec plusieurs personnes ayant rencontré Ubai dans diverses occasions et s’étant mobilisées pendant la campagne internationale demandant sa libération.
