The situation in Palestine has steadily worsened in recent weeks, and we absolutely must mobilize.

– Daily bombing of Gaza, including the destruction of a primary school,
– several more notches in the strangulation linked to the blockade with the stopping of essential deliveries such as fuel oil, which limit the population’s access to electricity to 3 hours per day!
– Israel also decreed a total ban on going out to sea for fishermen
– and they do not let any sick people in urgent need of treatment out of Gaza!

In the West Bank, it is also dramatic, in multiple forms, with chain demolitions of Palestinian homes, especially in East Jerusalem, with serial arrests and detention of adults and children, not to mention assassinations and assaults with impunity at fixed or “flying” checkpoints.

On the coronavirus side, while the Palestinian authorities had so far managed to limit its spread, we now learn that at least 15 Palestinian political prisoners have been infected in the Israeli prison of Ofer, in addition to a child detained.

Palestinians who are forced to go to work in Israel are spreading the virus in the occupied West Bank. Refugee camps are particularly affected due to the density of their population. And in Gaza, where hospitals have only 97 ventilators for every 2 million people, the contamination is spreading with the first two deaths outside quarantine centers. People who already suffer from a lack of clean water, electricity, medicine and work, are now facing curfews linked to the virus.

And all because in their war for power, Netanyahu and Gantz have embarked on a demonic one-upmanship of “firmness” against the Palestinians.

In Gaza, young people fed up with the blockade and the bombings are launching incendiary balloons that land on farmland in southern Israel. Israeli response: collective punishments, including bombings and increased deprivation.

In the West Bank, these same young people are responding to the occupation army’s raids, kidnappings, killings and house demolitions, by throwing stones at soldiers occupying their towns and villages. Israeli response: live ammunition at any Palestinian, arrests of lawyers, students, artists, nonviolent activists, and children. Torture and administrative detention (without charge or time limit) galore. (See our site for details of these atrocities).

And what are our leaders and their media doing? (Let’s not talk about the Arab regimes that formalized their collaboration with Israel without even getting them to give the Palestinians back the land it stole from them ).

Not only do they completely hide Israeli state terrorism, but they also allow a Tour de France cycling team to represent war criminals!

Called “Israel Start-up Nation”, “in reference to the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of the country” (sic), this team is financed by the Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, who declares “to want to present the Hebrew state as a vibrant and robust democracy, a normal country, safe, open and tolerant”.

“We will have our name, Israel, at the Tour de France, which will be seen by 2.6 billion people with our blue and white colors. It’s very symbolic”, said Sylvan Adams to AFP, presenting himself as “the self-proclaimed ambassador of the State of Israel” who does not hide the propaganda aims at trying to whitewash the crimes of the Apartheid State.

We call on you to show your support for the Palestinians wherever possible and to join in

GATHERING ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 5 IN PARIS
AT 3:00 PM AT THE FONTAINE DES INNOCENTS
(Metro Châtelet or RER Châtelet / Les Halles)

Demo called on by CAPJPO-EuroPalestine, the Collectif Ni Guerre, Ni Etat de Guerre, and all the organizations that are willing to join in this initiative.
