On Wednesday July 1st, Israel is set to officially annex 30% of the West Bank, Palestinian land that has been under Israeli occupation for over half a century, in a plan supported by the Trump administration. This move amounts to a huge blow against Palestinians’ democratic and national aspirations as part of an Apartheid-style vision, and also threatens hopes for peace and security of the multiracial Israeli working class. This is an effort by Netanyahu and his ruling right-wing government to stoke right wing nationalist sentiment in Israel, to further divide Palestinian and Jewish workers. This division and inequality is crucial for the Israeli capitalist class to maintain its dominance especially as the pandemic and economic recession expose it.

For decades Palestinians have been living under occupation, oppression and subjugation. Violence, including brutality and murder, against Palestinians by police and military forces is a regular occurrence. Protests against recent murders of Palestinians by Israeli state forces have taken inspiration from the Black Lives Matter movement in the US, using the slogan “Palestinian Lives Matter”, referencing George Floyd, and highlighting the connections between the oppression of Black people in the US and Palestinians in Israel/Palestine.

Thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank along with Jews, Palestinians, and others in Israel have joined protests against the annexation and state violence against Palestinians. We stand in solidarity with these protests in Israel/Palestine, opposing annexation and all Israeli oppression of Palestinians.

International Socialist Alternative’s organization in Israel/Palestine has asked our chapters all around the world to host actions on this day, to show international solidarity against the Israeli government’s annexation of the Palestinian West Bank. In Philly, we are protesting outside US Senator Bob Casey’s office to demand that he take a stand against the Trump-backed annexation! Casey has also publicly declared that he believes that Black lives matter, and that he is against racism and police brutality. If that is the case then he must recognize, and take a stand against, the parallel circumstances of racialized state violence that Palestinians live under.

WE DEMAND:
-Immediate recognition of a Palestinian state
-Recall ambassadors from Israel and declare Netanyahu persona non-grata
-Impose strict sanctions against Israeli settlements and Occupation of West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip
-Suspension and ban on any possible financial and military public and private aid and agreements that may be directly used to support the occupation and settlements

We are also encouraging folks to go to these other protests against annexation!
