In 2019 the Trump administration announced their Israel-Palestine policy, including the stance that they NO LONGER believe Israeli settlements in the West Bank violate international law. This occurred despite the fact that several United Nations Security Council resolutions have declared that Israeli settlements ARE illegal according to international law. Israeli settlements violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits an occupying power from transferring its population into the area it occupies.

This biased policy towards Israeli settlements and occupation led thousands of Palestinians to come together in protest in the “Day of Rage”. That day protesters marched with Palestinian flags and burned posters of Trump. To disperse the crowds, IDF soldiers responded with tear gas and rubber coated bullets, leaving 77 protesters wounded.

For years, Palestine has been slowly carved up, filled with illegal settlements, and closed in with walls and military check points. On July 1st, Israel plans to annex areas of the West Bank and the land along the boundary with Jordan.
