15 May, Chicago: Emergency Rally – Reject US Embassy Move & Israeli Massacres

On Monday, May 14 th , Trump officially moved the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. At the same time hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have escalated their protests across the West Bank and Gaza. These protestors have been met with unimaginable brutality with over 50 killed and 2700 inured. This latest massacre comes on the heels of five weeks of sustained Palestinian protest demanding the right of return for all Palestinian refugees and their descendants to their original homes and lands.

The Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine is calling for a mass emergency rally May 15th to respond to the Israeli brutality and to reject the Trump administration’s dangerous and illegal embassy move. The rally will coincide with the Nakba what the Palestinians call “The Catastrophe” marking the ethnic cleansing of almost 800,000 Palestinians in 1948 as Israel was established.

May 15 is known in most diaspora Jewish communities as “Israeli Independence Day,” and is considered a time of celebration. But to Palestinians, this day marks the Nakba, or catastrophe. In 1948, some 750,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled from their homes in what is now Israel. This mass displacement is a root of the ongoing human rights abuses faced by Palestinians.

Join us in a vigil to commemorate 70 years since the Nakba. As we recognize the ongoing crises faced by dispossessed Palestinians, we will also be recognizing the resistance in the Great March of Return, and honoring its victims.

Since March 30, almost 50 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza protesting for their freedom and rights. They are calling to return to the homes and lands they were expelled from in 1948 with the Nakba (catastrophe). This right of return is enshrined in UN resolution 194. Around 70% of Palestinians in Gaza are refugees from the Nakba.

On May 15, on the 70th commemoration of the Nakba, we will hold a Nakba teach-in in US Senator Chuck Shumers office. We will demand Shumer speak up against the killings in Gaza.

15 May, Dublin: Nakba Day Vigil – in Solidarity with the #GreatReturnMarch

Tuesday, 15 May
6:00 pm

O’Connell Street
Dublin, Ireland
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1073624642762124/

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Palestinain Nakba, and in solidarity with Palestinians on the #GreatReturnMarch, please join on Tuesday 15th May between 6pm and 7pm at The Spire on O’Connell Street in Dublin.

May 15th marks the 70th Anniversary of Nakba Day – the Day of the Catastrophe – the day on which Palestinians everywhere commemorate the ethnically cleansing of over 750,000 indigenous Palestinians from their homes, two thirds of the Arab population of the time, forcing them into exile so that the state of Israel could come into existence.

Of course, it didn’t all happen on one day – it was a continual process between 1947 and 1949. Unfortunately, as recent events make clear, the Palestinian catastrophe it is a process ongoing to this day, seventy years later. Just in recent weeks, Israeli occupation forces have shot dead almost 50 unarmed Palestinian protesters, and wounded thousands, in Gaza. These protesters were demanding the implementation of the Right of Return for Palestinian refugees, who make up 70% of Gaza’s illegally besieged population. The Irish government has condemned these shootings – but has done nothing to sanction the Israel state for these crimes.

Join us to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people on Nakba Day.

Organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

PALESTINIANS ARE BEING MURDERED BY THE MASSES AND THE WORLD CONTINUES TO STAND BY AND BE SILENT. WE WILL NOT.

For the last seven decades, Israel has carried out a continuing ethnic cleansing and colonization of Palestine and its people. Israel continues to murder Palestinians as the world stands by silent and in support of the genocide. Today marks not only the anniversary of this tragedy, but new terror unleashed against Palestinians. On Monday, Israeli forces murdered 55 Palestinians in Gaza and injured 2,700 more, shooting, bombing and gassing the protestors as the US renewed its support of the genocide with a new embassy in occupied Jerusalem. This brings the total casualties of this act of terror to 104 killed and 12,000 injured since Israel began its onslaught on the protesters in March.

Students for Justice in Palestine at UH refuses to stay silent in the face of these massacres! Protest with us in solidarity with Palestine as its people face renewed terror. We bring our voice to the Zionist Consulate in Houston calling for justice and an end to the genocide.

15 May, Brussels: Stop the Gaza Massacre! Protest for Gaza

Tuesday, 15 May
6:00 pm
Carrefour de l’Europe (Gare Central)
Brussels, Belgium
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/194545397844529

Today, 14 May 2018, more than 52 Palestinians were killed and over 2,000 injured by Israeli snipers in the Gaza Strip – a true massacre. Meanwhile, Israel celebrates its 70 years of independence, a true disaster for the Palestinian people. On that day, the US relocated its embassy to Jerusalem.

We demand:
that Belgium end all cooperation with Israel so long as it violates international law
the end of the occupation and colonization of the Palestinian territories
respect for the status of Jerusalem and denounce the measures taken to change its status
respect, promotion and protection of the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and recover their property
recognition of the rights and full equality of the Palestinian people in 1948 Palestine

Stop the massacre!
