Am Freitag, den 16. Dezember 2022, verstarb Professor Jose Maria Sison, der Gründungsvorsitzende der Kommunistischen Partei der Philippinen, in einem Krankenhaus in Utrecht, den Niederlanden, wo er im Zwangsexil lebte. Er war 83 Jahre alt. Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network spricht Sisons Lebensgefährtin und Mitstreiterin Julie De Lima, ihren Kindern und ihrer Familie sein tiefstes Beileid aus. Wir schließen uns dem philippinischen Volk, den Arbeitern und Bauern und Millionen von Genossen innerhalb und außerhalb der Philippinen an und betrauern den Verlust von Sison als Lehrer und führendes Licht.
Jose Maria Sison war der Initiator und erste Vorsitzende der Kommunistischen Partei der Philippinen (CPP) im Jahr 1968. Unter seiner Führung wurde die CPP zur führenden revolutionären Kraft auf den Philippinen und zu einem leuchtenden Beispiel für die internationale revolutionäre Bewegung. Nach ihrer Gründung expandierte die CPP rasch und gründete 1969 die Neue Volksarmee (NPA), die bis heute in fast allen Provinzen der Philippinen eine der längsten kommunistischen bewaffneten Revolutionen der Welt führt.
Zum Zeitpunkt seines Todes war Sison leitender politischer Berater der Nationalen Demokratischen Front der Philippinen (NDFP), der Einheitsfront dutzender revolutionärer Massenorganisationen auf den Philippinen, darunter Bauern, Arbeiter, Jugendliche, Frauen, indigene Völker und im Ausland lebende Filipinos. Sison war auch emeritierter Vorsitzender der Internationalen Liga des Kampfes der Völker (ILPS), in der Samidoun ein stolzes Mitglied ist und die Hunderte von antiimperialistischen Organisationen aus allen Kontinenten vereint.
Sison setzte sich stets für den Kampf um die nationale und soziale Befreiung der Philippinen ein. Er setzte sich bis zu seinem letzten Atemzug leidenschaftlich und unermüdlich für diesen Kampf ein und hinterlässt ein Vermächtnis von revolutionärer Energie, das jedem bekannt ist, der seine Worte und seine Arbeit gelesen oder angehört hat.
Als überzeugter Revolutionär und Marxist-Leninist-Maoist war Sison auch ein prinzipientreuer proletarischer Internationalist, der den palästinensischen Befreiungskampf konsequent unterstützte. Er schrieb Dutzende von Artikeln und Erklärungen über den Kampf des palästinensischen Volkes, unterstützte den palästinensischen Widerstand und forderte die Freiheit aller politischen Gefangenen.
Am Tag der palästinensischen Gefangenen im Jahr 2020 nahm Sison eine Solidaritätsbotschaft auf:
“Wir schließen uns euch an und feiern den Tag der palästinensischen Gefangenen, ehren alle palästinensischen politischen Gefangenen zusammen mit allen Märtyrern und Helden für ihren selbstlosen und edlen Kampf für die Befreiung des palästinensischen Volkes, verurteilen die Verletzungen ihrer demokratischen Rechte und Grundfreiheiten und fordern eine menschenwürdige Behandlung der politischen Gefangenen und ihre Befreiung aus ihrer ungerechten Gefangenschaft.
Das philippinische Volk und seine revolutionären Kräfte fühlen sich mit dem palästinensischen Volk und den revolutionären Kräften solidarisch, weil sie einen gemeinsamen Kampf gegen den US-Imperialismus und seine reaktionären Marionetten wie den israelischen Zionismus und das große Regime der Kompradoren und Großgrundbesitzer auf den Philippinen führen. Wir alle sind inspiriert von den Opfern, die die politischen Gefangenen und alle Märtyrer und Helden gebracht haben, um den Kampf für nationale und soziale Befreiung voranzutreiben.”
Als Samidoun Netzwerk zur Verteidigung Palästinensischer Gefangenen grüßen wir Ka Joma abschließend von allen unseren Ortsgruppen in der Welt. Wir versprechen, im Geiste von Ka Joma weiter für die nationale und soziale Befreiung Palästinas, der Philippinen und aller Länder zu kämpfen, die sich gegen Ausbeutung und Unterdrückung durch Imperialismus, Feudalismus und Kapitalismus wehren.
Sison hatte unmittelbare Erfahrung mit dem Kampf der Gefangenen, da er selbst 1977 von der faschistischen Marcos-Diktatur verhaftet und für neun Jahre inhaftiert wurde. Er wurde schwer gefoltert und verbrachte den größten Teil seiner Zeit in Einzelhaft. Bei der Schilderung seiner Erfahrungen im Gefängnis erklärte Sison, wie es ihm gelang, diese Jahre zu überleben und Standhaftigkeit zu üben, was bei palästinensischen Gefangenen als Sumud bekannt ist:
“Als mir so krasse körperliche Folterungen wie Schläge und Wasserkuren auferlegt wurden, dachte ich ständig daran, mich zu wehren, weil ich davon ausging, dass ich einfach bewusstlos werden würde, wenn mein Körper die Schmerzen der Folter nicht mehr ertragen konnte. Die ganze Zeit über dachte ich, dass es eine Schande wäre, aufzugeben und andere und mich selbst wegen der Folter zu verraten. Ich konnte und habe auch versucht, den Feind zu überwinden. Natürlich war ich mir immer der Pflicht bewusst, für das Volk und die revolutionäre Bewegung einzutreten.
Die schwierigste Art der Folter, unter der ich gelitten habe, war die langwierige, wobei die psychologische Form der Folter im Vordergrund stand und die eingebaute physische zweitrangig war. An eine Pritsche gekettet und in Einzelhaft in einer kleinen Zelle untergebracht zu sein und nicht zu wissen, wann sich meine Bedingungen ändern würden, bedeutete eine schreckliche Belastung für meinen Geist. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass jede Sekunde, jede Minute, jede Stunde, jeden Tag und jede Woche Tonnen von Blei auf mein Gehirn fielen.
Aber um meinen Verstand zu bewahren und sogar zu schärfen, kämpfte ich, indem ich Gedichte verfasste, meine Erfahrungen und Gedanken analysierte und mir Romane ausdachte, die ich nie schreiben konnte. Ich hatte den Willen zu kämpfen, denn ich kämpfte nicht nur für mich selbst, sondern für das Volk, insbesondere für die schuftenden Massen der Arbeiter und Bauern.
Ich betrachtete das Gefängnis und sogar meine kleine Zelle als eine Arena des Kampfes für nationale Befreiung und Demokratie. Ich hielt es damals für meine besondere Aufgabe, den US-Imperialisten und dem faschistischen Marcos-Regime die Stirn zu bieten, um das Volk weiter für die bewaffnete Revolution zu mobilisieren.”
Nach seiner Entlassung aus dem Gefängnis im Jahr 1986 begann Sison eine internationale Reise, auf der er Genossen und Revolutionäre aus der ganzen Welt traf. Bei einem Besuch in den Niederlanden wurde ihm jedoch von der philippinischen Regierung der Pass entzogen und er wurde zwangsweise in ein Land verbannt, das mehr als 10.000 Kilometer von seiner Heimat entfernt ist. Seitdem lebt er zusammen mit seiner Partnerin Julie De Lima und anderen philippinischen Revolutionären im Exil in den Niederlanden.
Im Jahr 2007 verhaftete die niederländische Polizei Sison auf Druck der Vereinigten Staaten und hielt ihn 16 Tage lang fest, misshandelte ihn und verweigerte ihm seine Medikamente. Er war auf die Terroristenlisten der imperialistischen Mächte gesetzt worden, die die revolutionäre Bewegung auf den Philippinen und ihre internationalen Kämpfer schwächen wollten. Die erfundenen Anschuldigungen, für die es keinerlei Beweise gab, wurden schließlich vom Gericht verworfen, aber Sison konnte nie aus den Niederlanden ausreisen. Die USA haben ihn im Gegensatz zur EU nie von der Terroristenliste gestrichen. Der Fall Sison ist ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, wie mit “Terrorlisten” versucht wird, die revolutionären Bewegungen der Völker der Welt zu kriminalisieren und zu unterdrücken, so wie sie auch gegen das palästinensische Volk und seinen Widerstand eingesetzt werden.
In den Niederlanden führte Joma ein nüchternes Leben in einer kleinen Arbeiterwohnung in Utrecht, wo er jeden Tag von früh bis spät arbeitete. Er war ein bescheidener, aber leidenschaftlicher Mann, der gerne Zeit mit Genossen verbrachte, sich ihre Erfahrungen anhörte und seine Ratschläge mit ihnen teilte.
Als Samidoun Netzwerk zur Verteidigung Palästinensischer Gefangenen werden wir uns an Jose Maria Sison, Ka Joma, als Genossenführer erinnern, der sein ganzes Leben dem Kampf für die nationale und soziale Befreiung der Philippinen und der Filipinos widmete. Und wir werden uns immer an seine unerschütterliche Unterstützung für die palästinensische Befreiungsbewegung und den Kampf der palästinensischen Gefangenen erinnern. Mabuhay, Ka Joma!

“In 1948 the US launched the Cold War in order to contain and combat the challenge of socialism and the national liberation movements and to counter the tendency of the US economy to slide into a crisis of overproduction. The Cold War was actually a series of hot localized wars. These included the big US wars of aggression in Korea and Indochina, the US-supported Israeli wars on Palestine and the anti-Soviet wars in Angola, Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Afghanistan….
We may count as forces of resistance from below those nonimperialist states that stand up to defend their national independence against imperialism. “Ten years after 9/11, the US finds itself bogged down in a historic debt crisis and protracted global depression. Its military forces are overstretched and pinned down in several theaters of war around the globe. The US retains more than 150,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and is now engaged with NATO in a war of aggression in Libya.
Over the past decade, anti-war, anti-imperialist and armed revolutionary movements have risen to resist the US wars of aggression. “From its conquest of Iraq, the US has gotten far bigger material rewards than from that of Afghanistan. It has seized the second largest oil reserves in the world and has gained direct control over the entire OPEC more than ever before. The US dollar remains secure as the currency of oil transactions.
The US has long nurtured the plan to occupy Iraq and reshape the entire Middle East politically and economically under US hegemony. The US military bases in Iraq are now at the heart of the entire region. The Palestinian and Arab people are being told to accept the US-made “road map” and other dictates of the US and the Israeli Zionists.
The US arrogantly demands that Syria and Iran submit completely to US hegemony or else suffer the fate of Iraq. US strategists calculate that one way or the other they can soon take full control over Iran and Syria. They are also threatening the feudal oligarchies of Saudi Arabia and the emirates with loss of their feudal rights if they do not yield further to US economic and military demands…. The US is scheming to grab Iran because of its oil wealth and because it is already sandwiched between the US-controlled countries of Afghanistan and Iraq. The US is also interested in controlling Syria because this country is seen as an obstacle in the US-made road map for Israel and Palestine. It is definitely to the interest of Iran and Syria to support the Iraqi people and to prevent the US from consolidating its power in Iraq.
It would be a colossal blunder for the US to take preemptive actions against Iran and Syria and to widen the battlefields from Iraq and Afghanistan. Popular armed resistance would spread like wild fire in the Middle East and Central Asia and encourage armed revolution in South Asia. At any rate, the US will increasingly pay for its imperial overreach. The people in all regions of the world see their opportunity to deliver their own blows on the overstretched and vulnerable monster.”
