7 April, Derry: Protest in Solidarity with the Great Return March

Saturday, 7 April
3:00 pm
Diamond War Memorial
Derry, Ireland
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/228770444351887/

The Derry Branch of Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Derry Anti-War Coalition, Sinn Fein, People Before Profit, SDLP and other civil society groups will be holding a rally in Solidarity with The Great March of Return and the murdered Land Day protesters in Gaza.
The rally will begin at the Diamond War Memorial at 3pm on Saturday 7th April proceeding via Shipquay Street to the Guildhall Square.
Speakers at the rally are Elisha McCallion, MP Sinn Fein. Fadl Mustapha, Palestinian Refugee and activist. Eamonn McCann, People Before Profit. Paul Gallagher, Independent Councillor Derry City & Strabane District Council. The leader of SDLP – Colum Eastwood has issued a statement in support of the aims of the Great March of Return. The SDLP party conference which is happening on the day of the rally prevents representatives from attending.
On Friday 30th March 2018, 10’s of 1000’s of Palestinians in Gaza gathered at the border fence for the beginning of the Great Return March home to the land and homes stolen from them and their forbears in 1948. They were met with lethal, accurate pinpoint brutality. Shoot-to-kill snipers, tanks with artillery, drones with teargas rained down upon peaceful unarmed protesters. 15 Palestinians lost their lives, murdered by Israeli Occupation Forces. 1400+ were injured, many seriously.
We call on the Irish & UK governments, the EU and the United Nations to take action against Israel’s war crimes and total impunity. We demand the expulsion of Israeli diplomats from Ireland and for sanctions to be imposed. It is not enough to churn out pointless platitudes time after time while Israel continues to flout international law and conventions.
Palestinians in Gaza live under a brutal siege imposed by Israel and enforced by Egypt and the inaction of the International Community. They are exercising their legal right enshrined in UN Resolution 194 – the right of return.
PLEASE COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR PALESTINE AND ANGER AT THE BRUTALITY OF THE  ISRAELI OCCUPATION FORCES.

Boykot Israel DK takes the streets Saturday 7 April at Norreport in Copenhagen. We will bring orange Boycott Israel banners, flyers and stickers and proceed to nearby supermarkets to urge customers to boycott all Israeli goods so long as occupation and apartheid persist. After Israel’s massacre in Gaza where the occupation military fired on protesters, killing at least 17 Palestinians and injuring 1400, the boycott of Israel is very important!

On 30 March, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip demonstrated peacefully on Land Day for their right to return and denouncing Israel’s illegal siege of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army attacked with extreme violence. 17 protesters were killed in cold blood by snipers and over 1,400 were injured. We call for action to support the demand for an independent investigation.

But we also know that there is no justice under occupatin, so we demand
– The end of the occupation
– The recognition of fundamental rights and full equality of Palestinians in occupied Palestine ’48
– Respect, protect and implement the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and property (UN General Assembly Resolution 194)

Now that there is renewed indignation, we must respond as advocates of justice for concrete action. Come to this action, share this event, mobilize!

FRANCAIS

– La reconnaissance des droits fondamentaux et la pleine égalité des habitants arabo-palestiniens habitant les territoires de 1948;

– Het erkennen van de fundamentele rechten en de volledige gelijkwaardigheid van de Arabisch-Palestijnse inwoners van Israël;

Yesterday, at least 15 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,400 others wounded by Israeli forces as thousands marched near Gaza’s border with Israel in a major demonstration marking the 42nd anniversary of Land Day.

Israeli forces fired live ammunition at protesters and used tear gas to push them back from a heavily fortified fence, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Adalah, a legal centre for Palestinian rights in Israel, condemned the Israeli army’s use of force and stated:

“Live gunfire on unarmed civilians constitutes a brutal violation of the international legal obligation to distinguish between civilians and combatants.”

Since 30 March, Palestinians in Gaza (two-thirds of whom are refugees) have started a March of Return to peacefully protest the inhumane conditions to which they are subjected by Israel.

Even before the start of the march, the Israeli state planned to respond with extrajudicial killings. Snipers along the border executed 17 unarmed Palestinians, with over 2000 injured!

We call on the largest number to demonstrate everywhere in France and join the BDS campaign initiated by the Palestinians.

BDS France Saint-Etienne
