Videos: Samidoun on upcoming prisoner exchange in Palestine, fighting state repression and the need for action

As the Palestinian people and the people of the world await the outcome of the prisoner exchange negotiations and the liberation of nearly 2,000 Palestinian political prisoners by the will of the Resistance and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people of Gaza, Samidoun co-founder Charlotte Kates appeared on two programs to discuss the leadership prisoners and the centrality of the prisoners to the Palestinian liberation struggle, as well as the battle against repression in the imperial core.

As of Sunday, 12 October, the Palestinian resistance negotiating team is continuing to pressure the mediators to force the Zionist entity to abide by the initial conditions of the ceasefire agreement in relation to the names of the Palestinian prisoners that will be released, including working to secure the liberation of prominent leaders such as Ahmad Sa’adat, Marwan Barghouti, Abdullah Barghouti, Ibrahim Hamed, Hassan Salameh, Abbas al-Sayed, and others. The occupation has repeatedly refused to release these leaders in the exchange, and Palestinian resistance negotiators emphasized that the occupation is already attempting to evade its responsibilities under the ceasefire agreement by excluding various Palestinian prisoners from those who will be liberated.

Kates joined Salaamedia in South Africa to discuss the leadership prisoners and the efforts of the resistance to secure a just and dignified prisoner exchange. Watch the video on X/Twitter below:

On Sunday, Asra Media Office, the official source for the news about the exchange, said:

Complex obstacles prevent the official announcement of the lists of prisoners released as part of the exchange deal, including prisoners from Gaza, women, and children.-

We confirm that efforts are being made around the clock to overcome these obstacles and complete the required procedures, and that the names and all details related to the deal will be announced as soon as the negotiations are completed and the final lists are approved up to the last name.

Once again, the ongoing struggle for the liberation of the over 11,000 Palestinians held in zionist jails and subjected to the most extreme forms of torture, has drawn global attention amid the ongoing efforts to secure the exchange. These discussions have also highlighted the ways in which the prisoners’ struggle is repressed both inside and outside the prisons, both by the Zionist regime and by imperialist powers.

Kates joined the “Resistance is Fertile” podcast with host Benji Schoendorff on 10 October to discuss these issues in an extended conversation about the urgency of action to support the prisoners and the Palestinian people and the level of repression targeting organizers for Palestine, including Samidoun, Palestine Action in Britain, and many others.

Samidoun will provide the latest updates and information, including the list translated into English, as soon as it is available per the official sources at Asra Media.

We emphasize that this moment is one in which we can best support the Palestinian people, the prisoners struggling for liberation, and their Resistance by avoiding complacency and escalating everywhere. “This is not the moment for our international movement to rest. This is our moment to escalate, and to make clear, that we will become a strong bulwark of support for the Resistance as it continues the struggle, as we stand for nothing less than the full accomplishment of the Palestinian people’s goals and aspirations, the complete international isolation and dismantling of Zionism and the Zionist entity, accountability and revolutionary justice for the war criminals, and the defeat of imperialism in Palestine, and throughout the region.”
