Samidoun participated in the Masar Badil’s international online forum on the resistance on Saturday, February 7, discussing the case of Mohammed Khatib, Europe coordinator of Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, currently detained in Greece after being arrested at Heraklion airport in Crete on his way to an event on the case of Palestinian prisoners in Zionist jails.
The forum featured a speech and interactive discussion with Hussam Badran, member of the Political Bureau of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement. Badran, a liberated prisoner freed by the Resistance in 2011 in the Wafa’ al-Ahrar exchange, spoke about the current situation in Gaza, the struggle of the Palestinian resistance to protect the people, the severe torture imposed upon the Palestinian prisoners today, the importance of the international movement for Palestine, and the importance of unity in confronting the genocidal Zionist assault.
Comrade Felix from Samidoun Brussels spoke following the main presentation and before the discussion period, highlighting the detention of Mohammed Khatib on Saturday morning and noting that this is part of an ongoing series of repressive attacks targeting Samidoun, including the ban on Samidoun in Germany, its “terror listing” in Canada and the United States, the ban on Mohammed Khatib entering Switzerland and the Netherlands, and the attempts of the Belgian far-right government to create new law, explicitly targeting Samidoun. He emphasized that Samidoun was not alone in this regard, highlighting the proscription of Palestine Action in Britain, the imprisonment of at least 10 Palestinians in Germany, the arrest and imprisonment of Palestinians in Italy, and the detention of Palestinian refugees in Belgium for organizing rallies against genocide, and noted that this repression is part and parcel of European complicity in Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people.
In the discussion section of the event, Badran responded to a wide range of questions, including discussing the so-called “Board of Peace” that the U.S. seeks to impose on Gaza and the world, the next steps for the Hamas movement, the ongoing Zionist/U.S. aggression against Lebanon, Iran and all resistance forces in the region, the mass outpourings in Yemen in support of Palestine, the role of Palestinians in shatat and exile, and the need for solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.

This event comes one week after the launch of the series on Saturday 31 January, which featured a discussion with Sayyed Ammar Moussawi, head of Arab and international relations for Hezbollah. During his presentation, he delivered a comprehensive analysis of the situation facing Lebanon, Palestine, the region and the world, especially amid the onslaught of U.S. imperialism and Zionism. As part of the introduction of the event, which was facilitated by Mohammed Khatib, Charlotte Kates, international coordinator of Samidoun, spoke about the at least 20 Lebanese prisoners in the Zionist jails, their conditions and situation, and urged international solidarity and involvement in the growing campaign to free the Lebanese prisoners alongside the Palestinian prisoners in occupation and imperialist jails.

These events are part of an ongoing series of discussions organized by the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, to serve as a bridge between the forces of resistance in the region and the international revolutionary movements, political parties, and activists in support of Palestine around the world, including in the imperial core, where the resistance movements confront intense criminalization and labeling.
