International call to action in support of The Great Return March!

We are calling our community and allies to take action and launch demonstrations in support of the Great Return March on April 14th, just as the righteous resisters in Gaza have declared. The time has come for our youth wherever they may be to raise their voices in support of the rightful struggle of our people in Gaza, and for our youth in diaspora to proclaim we will never surrender the right of return. Now more than ever when we seem the most divided, we must come together in collectively asserting our right to return and our dream of the total liberation of our people and homeland. There will be no solution without the total end of the Zionist colonization of Palestine–return is our right, and demand: we will return! Palestine will be free!

We will meet at 3 pm on Saturday, April 14th at the intersection Powell St & Market St. Please share this event widely.

U.S. Hands off Syria! Stop the massacres in Gaza!
Trump and Big Oil want a new war in the Middle East.

Already tens of thousands have died in U.S. effort to overturn the government. A U.S. attack on Syria could lead to World War III against Russia and China.

At the same time Israel has killed at least 30 Palestinians in Gaza, including children, and wounded thousands.

U.S. Out of the Middle East!
End U.S. Aid to Israel!
Solidarity with Gaza!

We Are United:

Oppose all U.S. wars, nuclear threats, sanctions, coups and bases

Stop the massacre of the Palestinian people!
Stop the occupation of Palestine!

The Great Return March, the Palestinian popular mobilization that started on 30 March and will continue until 15 May, has already been marked with blood by the Zionist occupation of Palestine attacking the right to return of all Palestinian refugees.

This peaceful march was met by the Zionist military with snipers, bullets and tear gas in the Gaza Strip, an open-air prison in which Palestinians have been under siege for 11 years. 30 Palestinians have been killed and over 2500 injured.

15 May 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the declared foundation of the Israeli state, and of the Nakba, the catastrophe of the Palestinian people which has since then lived the experience of exile, theft of their land and Zionist apartheid.

This anniversary will be celebrated with great pomp by the transfer of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem following Trump’s recognition of it as the capital of Israel. This theft of Palestine’s historical capital and denying the Right to Return of the refugees in exile is another step in the Zionist colonial project, endorsing the ongoing ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. This shameful action attempts to legitimize the Israeli colonization project, the settlement of Palestine, and conceal the daily Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people. Amid international silence, Israel implements policies to enlarge colonial settlements, expropriate land and water, prevent the production of goods, block the free movement of people and goods with roadblocks and walls, arrest and detain in prison adults and children, demolish homes and murder those who resist the violence of the occupation. The colonizers call these crimes “the right to defend themselves” but in practice they represent “the right to occupy” and “the right to exterminate.”

The struggle of the Palestinian people against Zionism and for the liberation of their land is, therefore, a struggle against racism, colonialism and crimes against humanity, and it is a beacon for all oppressed peoples. Our solidarity with the Palestinian people leads us to denounce the economic, academic and military ties between the Italian and Israeli states. This will be marked this year with the launching of the Giro d’Italia cycle race from Israel. In fact, RCS and the organizers, on the mandate of Italian politics, have transformed a sporting event that should be a symbol of peace and brotherhood into a showcase of propaganda for the Zionist state to clean its hands of Palestinian blood before international public opinion.

Solidarity with the Palestinian people includes denouncing the interests that bind the Italian government to the Israeli one and therefore today we must mobilize on the occasion of the Giro d’Italia scheduled in Veneto to raise our solidarity with the Palestinian people and our opposition to the logics of war that unite the Italian and Israeli governments.

With the Palestinian people! Free Palestine! No to the start of the Giro d’Italia from Israel!

17 April, Milan: Cambia Giro – Palestine and the Giro d’Italia

Tuesday, 17 April

This year, the organizers of the Giro d’Italia (RCS Mediagroup spa) have chosen to start this important cycling race from Israel after it paid an exorbitant suum of 4 million dollars.

Why start this year from Israel? How can sport be used to justify occupation? What are the relations between Italy and Israel?

This meeting at the University of Milan will discuss and attempt to answer these questions.

A short video will be screened and there will be a Skype connection with a Gaza parkour team that will discuss the situation of the Palestinian people and the events of the recent period.

14 April, Sheffield: Solidarity Rally for Palestinians in Gaza

Since the launch of #GreatReturnMarch, 29 defenceless protesters were shot dead by Israeli snipers in Gaza. The march will continue until May 15, the 70th anniversary of Palestinian Nakba (catastrophe), which marks the destruction of historic Palestine and the ethnic cleansing of its people. Israel celebrate the same event as its ‘war of independence’ while Palestinians experience an ongoing process of ethnic cleansing and other forms of colonial oppression ever since.

Despite the Israeli brutal repression of the Great March of Return, Gaza’s refugee population, who make the majority, have decided to continue protesting to highlight their dehumanisation under Gaza siege and re-position their inalienable right of return at the forefront of their struggle. The past two Fridays were very bloody despite the condemnations that came from all corners of the world. With Israel’s continuing international impunity, this coming Friday might be even bloodier. Therefore, we will continue protesting.

Join Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign this Saturday April 14th, at 12 noon in front of Sheffield Town Hall to stand in solidarity with the families of 29 protestors killed in cold blood. Let’s together call for an end to the bloodshed, an end to the siege on Gaza, an end to the occupation and an arms embargo now between the UK and Israel. #StopArmingIsrael

If you haven’t signed the petition calling for an arms embargo on Israel, please do and share widely: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/216561

12 April, Växjö: Novel Gaza

Thursday, 12 April

David Andersson-Shukur discusses the project “Novel Gaza,” a literary project for youth in the Gaza Strip. The project was started by a group of Växjö youth who wanted to connect with young people in Gaza. Through collections in Sweden and in cooperation with other organizations, the Novel Gaza team launched English lessons and printer training for young people in Gaza City in the summer of 2013. The result was 200 short stories that provide a completely unique insight into what it is like to grow up under war and isolation. There have since been two books of stories from Gaza’s youth published. But the end project is not just a book, but a new form of exchange between Sweden and Gaza.

17 April, Claremont: Political Prisoner Letter Writing Night

Tuesday, 17 April
8:00 pm
Scripps Humanities Building Room 119
Claremont, CA
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/187075452100113/

Claremont Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and 5C Prison Abolition are working in collaboration to write letters to domestic and international prisoners. SJP will be addressing the topic of Palestinian political prisoners in connection to the Israeli occupation, capitalist exploitation, and child prisoners. Later, we will guide people in writing letters of support to political prisoners under the guidelines of Samidoun, a Palestinian prisoner solidarity network. In addition, we will provide other educational resources that include the stories of Palestinian women prisoners and corporations that profit from Israeli prisons. Meanwhile, Prison Abolition will lead people in writing postcards to female prisoners in California, as well as letters of solidarity associated with the Black & Pink letter writing campaign which works to support incarcerated LGBTQ people of color and abolish prisons. We recognize that the struggle for Palestinian liberation and fight to end the Prison Industrial Complex through prison abolition are inherently battles fought against the same forces of patriarchal white supremacist capitalism and are necessary for world wide liberation of all people.
