The Ghassan Kanafani Resistance and Solidarity Front for Palestine is organizing an important event on the “East Med” gas pipeline linking Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Israel. The EastMed pipeline is the vehicle for the theft of the gas from the Leviathan deposit located within the territorial waters of the Gaza Strip.

About East Med:
On 3 April 2017 a joint declaration was signed to promote the East Med gas pipeline between Greece – Cyprus – Italy – Israel. The EastMed pipeline is the vehicle for the theft of the gas of the Leviathan deposit located within the territorial waters of the Gaza Strip. The framework for the confiscation of the rights of Palestine over its waters came in 1967 war in which Gaza was placed under Israeli occupation, to be followed by capitulation with the Oslo Accords in 1993. Israeli invasions which took place in 2008-2009 and then in 2014, de facto seized the underwater wealth of the Gaza Strip for Israel.
The SYRIZA-ANEL government, loyal to the Euro-Atlanticism of the local economic oligarchy, submits the country to Israeli, American and EU plans. Greece’s involvement in the EastMed issue is not only related to plans to supply energy to Europe from stolen gas deposits, but it reflects a broader political pursuit of the Greek bourgeoisie for aligning with the interests of Israel, as shown by relevant debates in the Greek Parliament. With this agreement, it believes that it will be able to compete with Turkey, particularly with regard to its aspirations in the gas fields of Cyprus. This association strengthens Greece’s ties with NATO, EU forces. and Israel, making it even more difficult to disengage from dependency on the imperialists.
It should be noted that the issue of EastMed, like any energy issue, is of paramount importance to the fate of the peoples involved. Suffice it to recall how directly connected with oil management are the wars that have been taking place in the Middle East for decades. Despite its importance, however, EastMed remains unknown to the majority of Greeks.

Το Μέτωπο Αντίστασης και Αλληλεγγύης για την Παλαιστίνη «Γασσάν Καναφάνι» γιορτάζει τα γενέθλιά του πραγματοποιώντας μία πολύ σημαντική εκδήλωση για τον Αγωγό Φυσικού Αερίου East Med με τίτλο «Αγωγός East Med, ενεργειακοί δρόμοι και εξάρτηση» και σας προσκαλεί όλους να παρευρεθείτε.
Η εκδήλωση αυτή θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 18 Απριλίου 2018 στις 18:00 στο Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο “Γιάννης Ρίτσος” του Δήμου Αιγάλεω και ομιλητές θα είναι ο Μοχάμεντ Κατίμπ από το Δίκτυο Παλαιστίνιων πολιτικών κρατουμένων Σαμιντούν, ο Νίκος Γκλεζάκος ειδικός σε θέματα Ασφάλειας-Ενέργειας, ο Δημήτρης Πατέλης Αν. Καθηγητής Φιλοσοφίας στο Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης, ο Παύλος Τουμανίδης διεθνολόγος και μέλος του ΔΗΚΚΙ και η Στέλλα Πατρώνα από την Ένωση Καταναλωτών.
Λίγα λόγια για τον East Med
Στις 3 Απριλίου του 2017 υπογράφτηκε κοινή διακήρυξη για την προώθηση του αγωγού μεταφοράς φυσικού αερίου East Med ανάμεσα σε Ελλάδα – Κύπρο – Ιταλία – Ισραήλ. Ο αγωγός EastMed αποτελεί το όχημα για την κλοπή του φυσικού αερίου του κοιτάσματος Λεβιάθαν που βρίσκεται μέσα στα χωρικά ύδατα της Λωρίδας της Γάζας. Η βάση για την αμφισβήτηση των δικαιωμάτων της Παλαιστίνης επί των υδάτων της, τέθηκε το 1967 και τον πόλεμο των έξι ημερών, κατά τον οποίο η Γάζα τέθηκε υπό ισραηλινή κατοχή, για να ακολουθήσει η συνθηκολόγηση με την συμφωνία του Όσλο το 1993. Οι Ισραηλινές εισβολές που πραγματοποιήθηκαν το 2008-2009 και μετέπειτα το 2014 πέρασαν de facto τον έλεγχο του υποθαλάσσιου πλούτου της Λωρίδας της Γάζας στο Ισραήλ.
Η κυβέρνηση ΣΥΡΙΖΑ – ΑΝΕΛ, πιστή στον ευρωατλαντισμό της ντόπιας οικονομικής ολιγαρχίας υποτάσσει τη χώρα στα σχέδια του Ισραήλ, των ΗΠΑ και της ΕΕ. Η εμπλοκή της Ελλάδας στην υπόθεση EastMed, δεν σχετίζεται μόνο με τα σχέδια για παροχή ενέργειας στην Ευρώπη από τα κλεμμένα κοιτάσματα, αλλά αντανακλά μία ευρύτερη πολιτική επιδίωξη της ελληνικής αστικής τάξης για σύμπλευση με τα συμφέροντα του Ισραήλ, όπως φαίνεται και από σχετικές συζητήσεις στην ελληνική βουλή. Με την σύμπλευση αυτή, θεωρεί ότι θα καταφέρει να ανταγωνιστεί την Τουρκία, κυρίως όσον αφορά τις επιδιώξεις της στα κοιτάσματα της Κύπρου. Αυτή η σύμπλευση ισχυροποιεί τους δεσμούς της Ελλάδας με τις δυνάμεις του ΝΑΤΟ, της Ε.Ε. και του Ισραήλ, κάνοντας ακόμη πιο δύσκολη την απεμπλοκή της από την ιμπεριαλιστική εξάρτηση. Επίσης μετατρέπει την Ελλάδα σε παράγοντα που δρα ενάντια στα συμφέροντα του παλαιστινιακού αγώνα και γενικότερα την βάζει απέναντι στο αντιιμπεριαλιστικό κίνημα της Μέσης Ανατολής.
Πρέπει να αναφερθεί πως το ζήτημα του EastMed, όπως και κάθε ζήτημα που αφορά την ενέργεια, είναι θέμα ύψιστης σημασίας για την τύχη των λαών που εμπλέκονται. Αρκεί να υπενθυμίσουμε πόσο άμεσα συνδεόμενοι με την διαχείριση του πετρελαίου είναι οι πόλεμοι που διεξάγονται εδώ και δεκαετίες στην Μέση Ανατολή. Παρά την σημαντικότητά του όμως, το θέμα του EastMed παραμένει άγνωστο στην πλειονότητα των Ελλήνων.

After pro-Zionist German organizations excluded Palestinian and Palestine solidarity groups and individuals from the Berlin 18 March alliance for political prisoners, we decided to organize the Day of All Political Prisoners on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day.
Join us to show solidarity with the 30,000 Palestinians participating in the #GreatReturnMarch, seeking an end to the siege on Gaza that has left 2 million Palestinians imprisoned for over a decade and a return to the homes from which they were ethnically cleansed in 1948.
Come and learn about the 70th memorial of Al Nakba! We will be having speakers who will join us from Labour for Palestine, Block the Boat, Jews for Palestinians Right to Return and Haneen Ali as they share experiences and stories about the Palestinians. This event is all about commemorating the Palestinians right to return; so join us on this night with free food and information as we take the time to fully remember this day… and every day since 1948.
We gather as a protest against last Friday’s shooting of defenseless protesters in Gaza, with 1400 wounded and 18 killed – as once again, Israel’s attacks on civilians have no international consequences.
Islam Maraqa and Joe Catron speak on the work of the International Solidarity Movement and screen a short version of “Radiance of Resistance,” featuring Ahed Tamimi and Janna Ayyad.
