The images of Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi, 16, starring in a video, in which Ahed defends himself from Israeli soldiers occupying the Palestinian territory, has traveled the world. Due to this fact, Palestinian young Ahed is imprisoned and under military judgment of the Zionist state of Israel, in Ofer, West Bank.

We join the growing global movement that demands the immediate freedom of Ahed Tamini and her family members. And we call to increase the expressions of international solidarity with the struggler Ahed Tamini and all Palestinian prisoners.

27 January, Perth: Free Ahed Tamimi and all Palestinian political prisoners

Saturday, 27 January
11:00 am
Murray Street Mall
Perth CBD
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/244661136071934/

16-year-old Ahed Tamimi is a prominent activist in her village of Nabih Saleh which is under Israeli military occupation, surrounded by checkpoints and watchtowers and illegal settlements.

Ahed was arrested after video of her courageously standing up to armed soldiers who had invaded her yard, who had less than an hour earlier shot her 14 years old cousin, Mohammed Tamimi, in the head at close range, went viral. Mohammed, in critical condition, had to be put in a medically induced coma for several days before seven surgeons operated on him for six hours to save his life.

After the video went viral, armed soldiers raided the Tamimi house in the early hours of the morning and abducted Ahed. When her mother Nariman went to the police station to support her daughter she too was arrested. Ahed faces 12 charges including throwing stones, incitement and assaulting and threatening a soldier. If found guilty by the military court, which has a conviction rate of 99.7% for Palestinians, she could face over 20 years imprisonment.

Ahed is one of almost 600 arrests of Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces since US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on 6 December. More than 450 Palestinians are currently held without charge or trial – so-called administrative detention which can be renewed indefinitely.
Join us to demand freedom for Palestinian political prisoners and an end to the Israeli occupation of their lands. #FreeAhed

“Radiance of Resistance” tells the story of Janna Ayyad, 9 years old, and Ahed Tamimi, 14 years old (the film was made in 2015 and 2016), who live under military occupation in the village of Nabi Saleh, Palestine. Janna Ayyad is the youngest journalist in Palestine, and Ahed has won awards for her activism for Palestine. She is involved in the Palestinian popular resistance and the fact that she is currently imprisoned has made her a prominent symbol of resistance. The film depicts their daily life and their role as a new generation of Palestinian strugglers.

The film will be screened in the presence of the director, Jesse Roberts, as well as with the participation of human rights activist and Unadikum coordinator, Manu Pineda. The event will also include a Skype call with Bassem Tamimi, the father of Ahed, from Palestine.

25 January, Dublin: Dail Protest – Free Ahed Tamimi and All Palestinian Child Prisoners

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1402899706503944/

Please join the Dublin branch of the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign outside the gates of the Dail (Irish Parliament) for a lunchtime protest between 1pm and 2pm on Thursday 25th January 2018.

Ahed Tamimi is a 16-year-old Palestinian girl who has been detained and is awaiting trial for slapping an Israeli occupation soldier who invaded her village of Nabi Saleh. Ahed is just one of roughly 350 Palestinian children held in Israel’s apartheid prison system where torture and ill treatment during arrest and detention are routine, including horrendous abuses against children.

We are holding a symbolic protest outside the Irish parliament to highlight the issue of child prisoners and to appeal to the Irish government to take concrete action to end Israel’s brutal treatment of Palestinian children like Ahed Tamimi and Fawzi al-Junaidi.

Organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign – supported by United Against Racism and Students for Justice in Palestine.

In 2015 and 2016, three American filmmakers joined the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in Palestine and filmed Palestinian nonviolent resistance in the West Bank village of Nabi Salih. They quickly realized that two young girls would be the focus of the film. Janna Ayyad, at age nine, has been called the youngest journalist in Palestine. Ahed Tamimi, then 14, recently became a symbol of resistance when she was sent to prison for slapping a Israeli soldier. Both have had members of their families shot, killed and arrested. The film has appeared in festivals around the world.

[English Below]

……………………..……………………..……………………..……………………..….

The Israeli practice of imprisoning Palestinian children is a longstanding tragic tradition and can only be seen as a symptom of the sickness that is the systematic oppression of the Palestinian people. Isa Qarage, the director of the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission, revealed that as of August 2017 this ´country´ has jailed over 400 Palestinian children.

The 16-year old resistance hero Ahed Tamimi is no exception. The Nabi Saleh native has been detained since early December of last year for bravely resisting the violence of an Israeli soldier who subjected her cousin Muhammad Tamimi to a gunshot wound from a rubber bullet. Do you also demand justice for Ahed and are you wondering how Israel keeps 400 Palestinian children hostage with little international scrunity? Why these children are losing their formative years because for throwing stones? Why they are coerced into signing confessions to crimes in a language they do not understand?

SJP invite you to join us on January 24th at 19:00 at the Verrekijker. We will start the evening with food and a “Sponsor a Letter” action for Ahed Tamimi. This will be accompanied by a discussion of the legal context by law student, Aletta.

Ahed is one of hundreds of Palestinian minors being held in Israeli military prisons. An Israeli court recently ruled that Ahed will be detained until her trial, meaning she will spend her 17th birthday — on January 31 — behind bars.

Join LSJP in writing letters of support and birthday cards to Tamimi, and learn how else you can join in the Palestinian solidarity movement. Treats and coffee will be served.

On December 6th, Donald Trump declared that Jerusalem, a city of great significance to Muslims, Christians, and Jews, as the capital of the occupying power of Israel. Since that declaration, at least 14 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli Military – and thousands of Palestinians being injured and detained, including hundreds of children, for protesting.

Ahed Tamimi, a 16 year old Palestinian, is one of those detained – she was filmed slapping an Israeli soldier after they had invaded her home and shot her 15 year old cousin, Mohammad Tamimi, in the face.

Ahed, her mother, and another cousin were detained without any charges being filed until recently – Ahed has been indicted with 5 charges of “assaulting security forces”, and her mother has been indicted with “assault and incitement” after posting the video of Ahed.

Join Progressive Student Union at the University of Texas at Arlington in condemning Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the political repression of Palestinians, like Ahed, by Israel.
