In many cities around the world, people and organizations are marking today, January 31 as an international day of action for the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners inside the occupation jails. Launched by the Red Ribbons Campaign and the Global Campaign to Save the Prisoners, the call to action highlights both the horrific conditions under which nearly 10,000 Palestinians are imprisoned by the Zionist regime as well as the escalated threats to their lives and the legitimization of the policy of assassination embodied in notorious fascist Public Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s new proposed legislation for the execution of imprisoned Palestinians.
Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network urges people around the world to participate in today’s actions and demonstrations, join these campaigns, and organize events in support of the liberation of imprisoned Palestinians. There are nearly 10,000 Palestinians held in the occupation’s jails, ranging from hundreds of children to leaders of the Palestinian liberation movement like Marwan Barghouthi, Abdullah Barghouthi, Ahmad Sa’adat, Hassan Salameh, Ibrahim Hamed, Anas Jaradat, Jamal Abu al-Haija, Muammar Shahrour and Mohammed Arman. There are 53 women held in the occupation’s notorious Damon prison. All of the imprisoned Palestinians have been subjected to severe physical and psychological torture and mass starvation; nearly 100 Palestinians have been martyred in the occupation’s jails since Al-Aqsa Flood and the launch of the occupation’s genocide on Gaza. In addition, there are over 20 Lebanese prisoners held in Zionist jails, dozens of Syrians, and dozens more Palestinians and advocates for Palestinian liberation jailed in imperialist prisons, in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the United States, Austria and other imperialist states.
Take the streets today and raise your voices for their liberation — at the heart of the liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.
