On Saturday, 13 June, Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network and the Yabous Sports Club in Nahr el-Bared Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon organized a street theater performance and public action against the zionist “Prisoners’ Execution Law” in occupied Palestine and to demand the expulsion of “Israel” from FIFA amid the opening of the World Cup.

The event included a mock execution of the notorious fascist zionist minster, Itamar Ben-Gvir, who publicly campaigns with nooses to promote the execution of Palestinian prisoners, and routinely boasts of the torture and abuse suffered by Palestinians in occupation prisons. He most recently called for the abduction of Lebanese women and children as a mechanism of suppressing the Lebanese resistance, and is well-known for his role in the expansionist settler movement in occupied Palestine. Demonstrators “hung” an image of Ben-Gvir before burning it as it fell to the ground.

Participants carried signs and banners demanding an end to the execution law, the liberation of all Palestinian prisoners, and the liberation of Palestine, while demanding that “Israel” be expelled from FIFA and international sports. The event began with a moment of silence in solidarity with the prisoners before a group of participants entered, shacked with chains, before raising victory signs.

Children’s faces were painted with the Palestinian flag, as speakers addressed the ongoing struggle of the Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation jails, as they confront torture, medical abuse and neglect, isolation, and starvation on a systematic and daily basis, in an attempt to eliminate the Palestinian prisoners’ movement.

Adnan Hamad, representing Samidoun, emphasized that the torture and abuse aims to “break the prisoners’ will and undermine the symbolism of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement…When the occupation fails to break the resistance on the battlefield, it turns to gallows and collective punishment. However, history has proven, from Akka Prison to the Ansar detention camps, that the prisoners’ movement has been, and will remain, the first line of resistance and the living conscience of the revolution that cannot be broken.”

Said Alloush spoke on behalf of the sports clubs in Nahr El-Bared, emphasizing that the sports and youth movement in the camps of Lebanon stands beside the Palestinian prisoners in their struggle for freedom and dignity, emphasizing that Palestinian sports are part of national identity and a mechanism to enhance awareness and involvement among children and youth. He emphasized that the occupation continues to participate in international sporting events despite its ongoing genocide and war crimes, including those targeting the Palestinian prisoners, and called for its immediate expulsion.

The representative of Al-Awda Women spoke, noting that Palestinian women are partners in all areas of the national struggle, including the prisoners’ movement behind occupation bars, where imprisoned men and women face extreme violations and repression. She called for broader popular and official action to expose this reality before the world, emphasizing that the occupation’s attempts to break the will of the prisoners will fail in the face of their steadfastness.
Statement of Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network on 13 June in Nahr El-Bared
To the masses of our Palestinian people in Nahr al-Bared refugee camp,
Today, we gather as the fascist Zionist enemy escalates its war of revenge against our women and men prisoners; a war led by a criminal government through legislative initiatives seeking to impose executions, and systematic policies of torture, starvation, and isolation, overseen by the extremist Ben-Gvir, aimed at turning prison cells into slow graves.
What is taking place behind bars is not “security measures,” but rather a war of vengeance designed to break the will of the prisoners and distort the image of the resisting Palestinian. Yet they fail every time in the face of heroes whose steadfastness has transformed their prison cells into schools of consciousness, resilience, and defiance.
The execution law promoted by the Zionist right-wing forces exposes the criminal nature of this entity, founded upon colonialism and ethnic cleansing. When the occupation fails to break the resistance on the battlefield, it turns to gallows and collective punishment. However, history has proven, from Akka Prison to the Ansar detention camps, that the prisoners’ movement has been, and will remain, the first line of resistance and the living conscience of the revolution that cannot be broken.
In the face of this terror, our national and moral responsibility today requires us to:
- Escalate support and solidarity campaigns, and expand popular, media, and student activities.
- Pursue the leaders of the enemy before international courts and expose their crimes before the world.
- Call upon the masses of our nation and the forces of liberation worldwide to stand united against this fascist project.
The prisoners’ struggle is not merely a humanitarian issue; it is at the core of the struggle for national liberation—the struggle of a people resisting for return, freedom, and independence throughout the whole land of Palestine, from the river to the sea.
- Glory and victory to our heroic women and men prisoners.
- Freedom for the Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian prisoners held in the enemy’s prisons.
- Shame upon the occupation and its jailers, and long live the resistance everywhere.
It is a continuing revolution until liberation and return.
