Concert organized by the “Free Mustapha Committee” to collect funds to support Belgian artist of Palestinian origin, Mustapha Awad, imprisoned by Israel.

Mustapha is the co-founder of the Palestinian traditional dance group Raj’een. This troupe will perform throughout the evening and invites you to dance with them.

Five talented Belgian artists will be donating their performances in order to support their fellow artist Mustapha:

Een concert georganiseerd door het comité “Free Mustapha” met als doel fondsen te verzamelen ter ondersteuning van Mustapha Awad, Belgisch kunstenaar met Palestijnse roots.

Mustapha is oprichter van de Palestijnse folkloristische dansgroep “RAJ’EEN”. Deze groep zal de hele avond dansen en jullie ook uitnodigen samen met hen een paar dansjes te proberen.

Vijf getalenteerde Belgische artiesten zullen gratis een zangoptreden geven om hun collega Mustapha te steunen.

Projection Room gewijd aan ontvangst en steun van multidisciplinaire culturele projecten stelt ons gratis zaal en materiaal ter beschikking, eveneens als steun voor Mustapha.

We hebben dus een artistieke solidariteitsavond in het vooruitzicht.

Mustapha Awad, a Belgian citizen, artist and human rights defender, was kidnapped by Israel on July 19th on the border between Jordan and Palestine. During interrogation, Mustapha suffered inhuman treatment, equivalent to torture. On October 10th, his “trial” will start.

The absence of a firm reaction from Belgium results that Israel is extending its borders more and more.

This country, which constantly violates international law, can kidnap a Belgian citizen at the border, mistreat him, put him on trial for “terrorism” and condemn him for acts he did not commit … with impunity.

Mustapha risks being sentenced to years of imprisonment if Minister Didier Reynders does not take action immediately.

He intervened strongly in Nicaragua. He may do so in Israel. No double standard will be accepted !!!

This is the reason why the Free Mustapha Committee calls to be present in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, October 10th.

Mustapha Awad, citoyen belge, artiste et défenseur des droits de l’homme, a été enlevé par Israël le 19 juillet dernier à la frontière entre la Jordanie et la Palestine. Pendant qu’il était sous interrogatoire, Mustapha a subi des traitements inhumains, équivalant à de la torture. Le 10 octobre, son « procès » débutera.

L’absence d’une réaction ferme de la part de la Belgique fait qu’Israël déplace de plus en plus ses frontières.

Ce pays, qui bafoue sans arrêt le droit international, peut en toute impunité kidnapper un citoyen belge à la frontière, le maltraiter, lui faire un procès pour « terrorisme » et le condamner pour des faits qu’il n’a pas commis.

Mustapha risque d’être condamné à des années d’emprisonnement si le ministre Reynders n’intervient pas immédiatement.

Il est intervenu énergiquement au Nicaragua. Qu’il fasse pareille en Israël. Pas de deux poids, deux mesures !!!

C’est la raison pourquoi le Comité Free Mustapha appelle à être présent devant le ministère des Affaires étrangères le mercredi 10 octobre.

Mustapha Awad, een Belgische burger, artiest en mensenrechtenverdediger, werd op 19 juli door Israël ontvoerd aan de grens tussen Jordanië en Palestina. Tijdens het verhoor onderging Mustapha een onmenselijke behandeling die neerkomt op marteling. Op 10 oktober begint zijn “rechtszaak”.

De afwezigheid van een sterke reactie van België betekent dat Israël steeds meer zijn grenzen verplaatst.

Dit land, dat voortdurend het internationaal recht schendt, kan straffeloos een Belgische burger ontvoeren bij de grens, hem mishandelen, hem voor de rechtbank brengen voor “terrorisme” en hem veroordelen voor feiten die hij niet heeft begaan.

Mustapha dreigt te worden veroordeeld tot jarenlange gevangenisstraf als minister Didier Reynders niet onmiddellijk ingrijpt.

Hij is sterk ingegrepen in Nicaragua. Dat hij maar hetzelfde doet in Israël. Geen twee maten, twee gewichten !!!

Dit is de reden waarom de Free Mustapha-commité op woensdag 10 oktober voor het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken aanwezig zal zijn.

Leden van de dabkeh-dansgroep, Raj’een, opgericht door Mustapha, zullen deelnemen aan het evenement.

FREE MUSTAPHA : Belgium Must Act … NOW !

The Free Mustapha Committee expects a strong, meaningful action from the Foreign Minister: a clear statement about the inhuman treatment of Mustapha Awad, a summons from the ambassador, an energetic approach to pressure the Israeli government.

Mustapha is the victim of an arbitrary arrest. He was kidnapped on the border with occupied Palestine with Jordan and held incommunicado; he was interrogated 20 hours a day.

What happens to him is a dangerous precedent and a threat to all Palestinians with a Belgian (or European) nationality.

There is a red line, which is threatened by Mustapha’s case.

In the case of a young woman arrested recently in Nicaragua, Minister Reynders reacted immediately. It is high time he did the same for Mustapha.

The days go by, we have no time to lose. Mustapha has been locked up for 71 days now and is at risk of being sentenced. Belgium has to act now to ensure his freedom.

We can not accept that Israel, a colonial state, responsible for war crimes and permanent violations of international law, has the legitimacy to judge a Belgian citizen, artist and human rights defender of the Palestinians, for charges related to political expression and alleged affiliation under the banner of “terrorism”.

Come out strongly next Wednesday to support these important demands!

FREE MUSTAPHA : België moet alles doen voor de vrijlating van Mustapha… NU !

Mustapha Awad, een jonge artiest en Belgische arbeider van Palestijnse afkomst, wilde zijn thuisland bezoeken deze zomer. Op 19 juli werd Mustapha gearresteerd door de Israëlische autoriteiten. Sindsdien zit hij vast in een Israëlisch ondervragingscentrum.

Het Comité Free Mustapha verwacht dat het Belgisch ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken alles doet om Mustapha onmiddellijk vrij te krijgen.

Mustapha werd aan de grensovergang van Palestijns bezet gebied gearresteerd en gedurende 2 weken in het geheim vastgehouden. Hij onderging ondervragingen van 20 tot 24u. Mustapha is een Belg van Palestijnse afkomst.

Hetgeen met hem gebeurt is een gevaarlijk precedent voor alle Palestiniens met Belgische of Europese nationaliteit. Een rode lijn wordt overschreden.

Minister Reynders is onmiddellijk tussengekomen in het dossier van een jongedame die recent in Nicaragua werd gearresteerd. Het is meer dan tijd dat hij hetzelfde doet voor Mustapha.

Mustapha zit ondertussen meer dan 2 maanden vast en loopt het risico veroordeeld te worden. België moet stappen ondernemen voor zijn vrijlating.

Het is ongehoord dat de koloniale staat Israël, veroordeeld voor oorlogsmisdaden en voortdurende schendingen van het internationaal recht, het recht heeft een Belgische staatsburger, artiest en mensenrechtenactivist te veroordelen voor ‘terrorisme’.

Kom volgende woensdag voltallig om deze eis te steunen.

FREE MUSTAPHA : La Belgique doit agir … MAINTENANT !

Le Comité Free Mustapha attend de la part du ministre des Affaires étrangères un signal fort : une communication sur les traitements inhumains qu’a subis Mustapha Awad, une convocation de l’ambassadeur, une approche énergique du gouvernement israélien.

Mustapha est victime d’une arrestation arbitraire. Il a été enlevé à la frontière avec la Palestine occupée et mis au secret ; il a subi des interrogatoires 20 h sur 24 h.

Ce qui lui arrive est un dangereux précédent et une menace pour tous les Palestiniens avec une nationalité belge (ou européenne). Il y a une ligne rouge, qui risque d’être dépassée par le cas de Mustapha.

Dans le dossier d’une jeune femme arrêtée récemment au Nicaragua, le ministre Reynders a réagi immédiatement. Il est plus que temps qu’il fasse la même chose pour Mustapha.

Les jours passent, nous n’avons pas de temps à perdre. Mustapha est enfermé maintenant depuis 71 jours et risque d’être jugé condamné. La Belgique doit le sortir de là.

Elle ne peut accepter qu’Israël, État colonial, responsable de crimes de guerre et de violations permanentes du droit international, ait la légitimité de juger un citoyen belge, artiste et défenseur des droits humains des Palestiniens, pour « terrorisme ».
