Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/197725290841471/

We are gathering as a community to declare:
All Palestinian refugees and their descendants have the right to return to Palestine.
Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.
The 11 year Gaza blockade must end.
Freedom for all political prisoners.

Commemorating 70 years of resistance since the Nakba (‘day of the catastrophe’) in 1948 displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, Texas is holding a state-wide day of solidarity.

“Our chains will be broken before we are.”
– Marwan Barghouti

This day of action will be a show of our unity with other communities who have faced racism, displacement, expulsion, deportation, classism, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and antisemitism.

This is a family-friendly event. We encourage you to fly Palestinian flags, wear keffiyeh with pride, and bring signs and banners in the spirit of resistance.

10TH MAY 2018 – PROTEST APARTHEID ISRAEL SPONSORED FILM FESTIVAL – DEMAND FREEDOM FOR PALESTINIAN POET DAREEN TATOUR

DATE: Thursday 10th May 2018, 7pm
LOCATION: Ham Yard Hotel, 1 Ham Yard, London W1D 7DT (nearest tube is Piccadilly Circus)
WEB: http://inminds.co.uk/article.php?id=10799

Inminds human rights group will protest the London opening gala of the Israeli government sponsored Seret 2018 International Israeli Film & TV Festival on Thursday 10th May 2018 outside the Ham Yard Hotel in Piccadilly.

The festival is part of Israel’s “brand Israel” propaganda project, whereby culture is used to whitewash an apartheid state founded on the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people and occupation of their land. Former deputy director general of the Israeli foreign ministry, Nissim Ben-Sheetrit, explained it, upon launching the million dollar Brand Israel campaign in 2005: “We are seeing culture as a hasbara [propaganda] tool of the first rank, and I do not differentiate between hasbara and culture.”. Along with the Israeli government, through its London Embassy and Ministry of Economy and Industry, the festival is sponsored by racist quasi-government agencies, including the the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency, both of which are central to Israel’s Jewish-only illegal settlement project, and by Leumi Bank and Mizrahi Tefahot Bank, both of which finance Israel’s illegal settlement expansion.

Inminds chair Abbas Ali said “We have protested this propaganda fest since 2013. After several years of protests outside their gala opening at the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) the prestigious BAFTA finally dropped Seret last year and now the opening gala is being held in a back street hotel.. Our campaign continues.. We will not let our city be used to launch propaganda projects for an apartheid rogue state which today is slaughtering women and children in Gaza as they try to return to their homes. Our message is clear – culture cannot whitewash war crimes. Respect the Palestinian call for a cultural boycott of apartheid Israel.”

The protest will also demand freedom for Palestinian poet Dareen Tatour who was convicted last week for her poetry, having been in custody since 2015. The writer’s association PEN condemned the verdict as “an unacceptable attack on freedom of expression.. a poem is not a crime”. The group’s international president, Jennifer Clement said “Dareen Tatour has been convicted for doing what writers do every day – we use our words to peacefully challenge injustice”.

Inminds chair Abbas Ali said “Not only does Israel use art and culture as propaganda tools to whitewash its war crimes, but at the same time Israel suppresses Palestinian culture and art, targets Palestinian artists, and imprisons them for their art. We will not let Dareen Tatour be silenced, we will read aloud her poem ‘Resist, My People, Resist Them’ so that the so-called VIP’s, like Israel’s chief propagandist and now Ambassador Mark Regev, entering the gala cannot evade her words.”

If you support this activity please share this alert widely, thank you.

JazakAllah,

Abbas Ali

12 May, Gothenburg: Demonstration to support the Palestinian cause

Saturday, 12 May

Jarntorget
Gothenburg, Sweden
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/2243043319055566/

As an end to the RKU National Conference – Revolutionary Communist Youth – we will gather at Jarntorget for a demonstration in support of the Palestinian struggle.

It has been 70 years since al-Nakba, the catastrophe, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were driven from their homes.

During Easter weekend, Israel assassinated dozens of Palestinian protesters in Gaza. Over 1,000 people were injured – this must end!

Under påskhelgen mördade Israel flertalet palestinska demonstranter i Gaza.

19 May, Bonn: 70 years of expulsion and occupation are enough!

Saturday, 19 May
2:00 pm
Münsterplatz
Bonn, Germany
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/367298543762754/

Israel celebrates the 70th anniversary of its founding in May this year. For the Palestinians it is the 70th anniversary of the “Nakba”, the catastrophe of expulsion, land theft, occupation and apartheid, which simply will not end.

The expulsions began even before the founding of the state of Israel, just after the vote on the UN partition plan. Israel used planned massacres, such as in the village of Deir Yassin, where Zionist terror groups killed around a third of its residents in April 1948. By the end of the war, Israel had expelled about ninety percent of the Palestinians (750,000 people).

Expulsions were also illegal in 1948. Therefore, the UN called on Israel in UN Resolution 194 to allow the return of the refugees. Israel accepted the resolution to become a member of the UN, but still refuses to implement it!

Today, in the West Bank, the illegal Israeli wall separates Palestinian farmers from their fields, more than 700,000 Israeli settlers are stealing Palestinian land, countless military checkpoints are paralyzing and destroying the economy. Everyday life is determined by relentless raids, arrests and house demolitions. Meanwhile, Gaza has been converted into a permanently besieged and bombarded open-air prison.

What is the way out of this unbearable situation? Israel as an occupying power must be urged internationally to recognize the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to accept the provisions of international law, ie:

* the cessation of occupation and the siege of the West Bank and Gaza, the demolition of all walls and fences
*equality of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel
*and the recognition of the right of Palestinian refugees to return!

15 May, Vancouver: Mark Nakba70 – End Canadian Complicity

Join us for a picket and PEOPLES’ TRIAL on May 15, 2018 as we mark the 70th anniversary of the dispossession and dismemberment of the Palestinian people and nation. Known as the “Nakba”, over 400 Palestinian towns and villages were destroyed and/or depopulated in 1948. More than 750,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes and lands, resulting in a Palestinian refugee population now numbering almost 8 million. Canadian officials were complicit in this project in 1947-48 and they are complicit now in the continuing suffering of the Palestinian people. The Canadian government has yet to condemn the Israeli murder of over 40 unarmed Palestinians(and counting) in Gaza since March 30, a number which includes children and journalists. Gaza’s population is predominantly refugees expelled in 1948.
We charge successive Canadian governments with aiding and abetting continued Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people.
We call for sanctions on Israel now and ask the Canadian people to intensify BDS campaigns.
Remember, Resist! Palestine will be Free!

Solidarity with the Gaza Great Return March, The Red Nation is hosting an all day event in Window Rock, Arizona, where we will display exhibitions about the Palestinian right of return plight.

After 70 years of Palestinian displacement and the occupation of Zionist settlers, it is important to support the heroic Palestinians in their struggle, especially at this time as Palestinian refugees in Gaza march peacefully and unarmed while Israeli snipers murder and injure them. On May 15, 2018, we suspect increased aggression from the Israeli occupation army as they are planning to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem on this day.

RADIANCE OF RESISTANCE (USA 2017)

SYNOPSIS
Radiance of Résistance tells the story of Janna Ayyad 9 years old, and Ahed Tamimi 14 years old that live under military occupation in Nabi Saleh, Palestine. Janna Ayyad has been called the youngest journalist in Palestine. Ahed won the Handala Courage Award from Turkey when she was 13 and met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This film will take an intimate look at their everyday lives and their importance as the new generation of Palestinian non-violent resistance.
