Association Belgo-Palestine of Wallonie Picarde à Tournai, Amitié Lille Naplouse, PAC, Ciep-MOC, the Province of Hainaut and the City of Tournai invite all to the event, “Palestinian prisoners, view from the inside,” on Saturday, 3 December 2016, at the Tournai City Hall.

Palestinian Prisoners: View from the Inside is a series of images created by a Palestinian artist in Great Britain. The exposition portrays the experiences of Palestinian prisoners from the first moment of arrest by the occupation army, interrogation, physical and psychological abuse, military courts, family visits, and the inside of Israeli prisons. There are currently over 7,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. Since 1967, over 800,000 Palestinian prisoners have been jailed by Israeli occupation authorities. 99.74% of Palestinians are convicted by Israeli military court. A prisoner can be held for up to 90 days without seeing a lawyer, a period that can be renewed once for a total of 180 days.

This event includes presentations from three Palestinian activists:

Fuad Khuffash, president of Al-Ahrar in Nablus, a study center for prisoners and human rights

Azzedine Jabareen, lawyer specialized in prisoners’ affairs, from Palestine ’48

Mahmoud al-Weesi, journalist and coordinator of the Freedoms Committee in Palestine ’48

The three speakers will explain the realities of the situation inside Israeli jails and the repression of the struggle for Palestinian rights.

(This event will take place in French.)
