Stop Criminalizing People Who Struggle for their Rights to Land, Income, Shelter, Dignity, and a Just Peace!

Join the Alliance for People’s Health and the International League of Peoples Struggles on Coast Salish Territory on Monday December 10 to share messages of solidarity with people in struggle, and hear first hand reports from peoples struggles for justice and liberation across Turtle Island, Philippines, India, Palestine, Nicaragua, and more. Stand for Human Rights with Justice!

In the Philippines, since July 2016, hundreds of peasant leaders, health workers, journalists, lawyers, and human rights advocates have been killed under President Rodrigo Duterte’s counterinsurgency program Oplan Kapayapaan. Despite promises of fundamental change, the militarization of poor peasant communities and extra-judicial killings of leaders and activists in mass organizations intensifies. . Additionally, the death toll in Duterte’s drug war continues to climb. The war on drugs targets majority urban poor who live under conditions of extreme exploitation.

The situation in the Philippines is not unique. As the plunder of resources and the exploitation of working people intensifies, peasants, Indigenous peoples, and workers, including journalists and health workers, continue to struggle for their rights! From the Philippines and Palestine to Turtle Island and Latin America, the people continue to rise for a just and lasting peace that includes genuine land reform, the right of return to occupied territories, an adequate livelihood, and an end to environmentally destructive industries that plunder the land to enrich an elite minority. Those who raise their voices in the struggle for their communities’ fundamental human rights continue to face grave repression and even the loss of life by pro-imperialist states and military and paramilitary forces.

Why December 10th? December 10th is recognized across the world as a day to commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1848. The basic tenants of this international statute establish an individuals economic, social, and cultural rights, including the “the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services.” Forty-eight countries are original signatories to the declaration, including Canada, the United States, India, the Philippines, and Mexico, committing themselves to securing fundamental human rights for their citizens.

Since the war on terror, the imperialist powers have been pushing for confusion between national liberation struggles and terrorist groups. Even though this is a strategy watch, since September 11, rhetoric is used even more frequently. If the legitimate Colombian-Irish resistance against the imperialist system was framed in the war on drugs, and all the militants of these movements accused of drug trafficking, the trend has now become that of false accusations of terrorism.

The so-called “Canada” has a list of terrorist entities, just like the United States. These two lists are important tools for international collaboration in the persecution and political repression of groups and individuals who advocate for self-determination and socialism.

Dans l’héritage du Dr. Frantz Fanon, psychiatre anticolonialiste, elle témoigne des strategies et conséquences psychologiques de l’occupation et des outils des Palestinien-nes pour y faire
face. Dans ce film, des extraits de chroniques, d’interviews
et d’échappées poétiques dansent avec l’invisible des rues

Moudenc, do not support Israeli apartheid! Build the boycott!

On Wednesday, 28 November at 6:00 pm, the Mayor of Toulouse invites his friends in City Hall to celebrate the conclusion of the France-Israel Season. We will be there to tell him that he could have avoided this closing ceremony (at the expense of the taxpayers) if he had the dignity to never start these scandalous festivities.

Let us recall. The blood of the Palestinians was not yet dry as the France-Israel Season was inaugurated in Paris in early June, three weeks after the bloody suppression of the Great Return March in Gaa. This whitewashing operation of the Israeli state is indecent and outrageous.

The Toulouse City Council encouraged the Garonne Theater and the Cinematheque to join them in celebrating the “France-Israel Season.” It thus participated in this attempt to burnish the image of the Israeli apartheid state as it has been tarnished by its harsh daily repression against the Palestinians and its status as a “security start-up nation.”

Mayor Moudenc thus once again gives his unconditional support to:
* a state that has dispossessed the Palestinian people of their land for 70 years and continues relentlessly its occupation, colonization and siege of Gaza,
* a state that reaffirmed its apartheid status in July by passing the “Nation-State Law,” claiming to represent all Jews in the world by excluding Palestinians, stripping their language of its official character. This made even the conductor Daniel Barenboim declare that he was “ashamed of being Israeli!”

Mayor Moudenc and the Directors of the Garonne Theater and the Cinematheque: How can you act as if nothing had happened? As if more than 200 young people had not been murdered with premeditation? As if thousands of protesters demanding only respect for their fundamental rights have not been permanently disabled? As if the Gaza ghetto did not run the risk of being liquidated, with the active or passive complicity of the international community?

For our part, we will continue to stand with the Palestinian people, who need our solidarity more than ever.

M. MOUDENC, ON NE CAUTIONNE PAS L’APARTHEID ISRAELIEN ! ON LE BOYCOTTE !

Mercredi 28 novembre à 18h le Maire de Toulouse invite ses amis en Mairie (dans la salle des Illustres) pour clôturer la Saison France Israël. Nous serons là pour lui dire qu’il aurait pu éviter cette cérémonie de clôture (aux frais des contribuables) s’il avait eu la dignité de ne jamais entamer ces scandaleuses festivités.

Revenons en arrière. Le sang des Palestiniens n’était pas encore sec, que la saison France Israël était inaugurée à Paris début juin soit trois semaines après la répression sanglante de la « Grande Marche du Retour » à Gaza. Cette opération de blanchiment de l’État d’Israël est indécente et scandaleuse.

La Mairie de Toulouse a encouragé en particulier le Théâtre Garonne, la Cinémathèque à s’inscrire à ses côtés dans la « saison France Israël ». Elle a participé ainsi à la tentative de redorer le blason de l’État d’apartheid israélien, passablement terni par sa politique chaque jour plus dure à l’encontre des Palestiniens et son statut de start-up nation du sécuritaire.

M. Moudenc apporte ainsi une nouvelle fois son soutien inconditionnel à :
un Etat qui dépossède le peuple palestinien de sa terre depuis 70 ans, poursuit sans freins l’occupation, la colonisation, le blocus de Gaza,
un Etat qui a officialisé en juillet son statut d’État d’apartheid, par la loi « Israël-Etat nation du peuple juif » qui recrute tous les juifs du monde en excluant les Palestiniens d’Israël, dont la langue est déchue de son caractère officiel. Ce qui a fait déclarer au chef d’orchestre Daniel Barenboim qu’il avait « honte d’être israélien » !

M. Moudenc, MM. Les Directeurs du Théâtre Garonne, de la Cinémathèque, comment avez-vous pu faire comme si de rien n’était ? Comme si plus de 200 jeunes n’avaient pas été assassinés de manière préméditée ? Comme si des milliers de manifestant.e.s demandant seulement le respect de leurs droits fondamentaux n’avaient pas été estropiés à vie? Comme si le ghetto de Gaza ne courait pas le risque d’être purement et simplement liquidé, avec la complicité, active ou passive, de la communauté internationale ?

Comment avez-vous pu vous engager dans ce parrainage déshonorant !
Pour notre part, nous continuerons à être aux côtés du peuple Palestinien qui a plus que jamais besoin de notre solidarité.
