Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network has been maintaining a lengthy and growing list of international actions and events for Palestinian prisoners since Palestinian Prisoners’ Week and the launch of the hunger strike for Freedom and Dignity. As the strike enters its third week, we urge all supporters of Palestine to continue to organize events and demonstrations to build solidarity with this critical action. As Palestinian political prisoners end the 40th day of the Strike of Freedom and Dignity, their largest mass hunger strike in five years, rally to support their demands for an end to Israel’s policies of “administrative detention,” or indefinite internment of Palestinians without charge or trial, and solitary confinement, as well as improved access to health care, family visits, and education.

The conference was followed by a cultural event that drew over 500 Palestinians and their supporters in Berlin, featuring a speech by longtime Palestinian veteran struggler from the refugee camps of Lebanon, Salah Salah, and performances by two Palestinian cultural performance groups, 
The day before the conference, Friday, 19 May, conference organizers and participants – including Samidoun activists from Belgium, Greece, Turkey and elsewhere – joined in a protest organized by Palestinian and Arab organizations in Berlin in support of Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike outside Rathaus Neukolln in a busy district of Berlin. They held signs, posters and banners in support of Palestinian prisoners while distributing information to passers-by about the prisoners’ strike and chanting for freedom for the prisoners and the Palestinian people.
