psc-sandtonThe demonstration is a protest against the continuing Israeli practice of indefinite detention without trial. Over 700 Palestinian political prisoners are currently being held under what Israel terms ‘administrative detention’. As a result, they and hundreds more political prisoners have been holding an indefinite hunger strike to force the Israeli government to stop this unlawful and immoral practice. Of particular note is that it is now being used to extend the detention of prisoners even when they finish serving their official sentences.
Please join us in showing your support for this very important statement against the kind of abuse that apartheid South Africa and so many other unjust and criminal regimes perpetrated.

We furthermore urge all those committed to the Palestine International Solidarity Movement to make Friday, 23 September a “Day of Fasting”, by abstaining from the intake of solid food. This symbolic hunger strike is to show our unity with the courage of these political prisoners.
